Hi all,

I see I'm a little late to this thread hehe. My partner and I mailed our papers on Aug 17, 2012 through inland and have not heard anything back yet. For those of you who have, did you all submit through outland? My partner and I have been living in Canada together since March 2010 and he has been on a visitor's visa this whole time as we have been renewing it every 6 months. Does anyone know if we still have to renew his visa even though we're currently in the sponsorship process? I think I've read somewhere either on the forums here or on the CIC site that we do not need to renew his visa but I just wanted to be 100% sure.

Thanks for the help!! :D

A lot of peope do apply outland, itis quicker and you can apeal the decision.

You do have to renew the visitors visa every 6 months.

Congratulations! I returned to Canada as a visitor after we received the AOR. We had printed out our entire application and the AOR email but in the end they didn't ask to see anything since it was all in their system already. So I don't think it matters really.

Thanks- that's a relief will just go armed with my file number then- nice username btw.

For those of you who have completed stage 1 does the ecas system show you your file has been sent to the VO? Does it say anything?

E-CAS is not updated when I log in with my receipt number. However, all the progress is shown by using my file number (with my sponsor's details), but as I understand it E-CAS is very erratic.

whn i try to check ecase from uci it does not show any info regarding my case and when i put file number it says they dont have any info for that ?

That would be great louie ann!! They recieved it on the 13th of august. Sponsor approval on the 19th of October. :) So excited! Just a quick question to all of you....Do any of you know anyone that has been approved for sponsorship but the applicant didnt get approved? Just curious! :) Happy waiting for all of you...xoxo

Have you tried the file number using both yours and your sponsor's details? Mine only works using my sponsor's information.

An update for any of those still based Outland with long waits who are getting worried.

CIC received my application on 03-Aug (80 days today) and we had heard nothing. While I was very happy for all the August people getting there approval I was a little bit worried we had been left behind.

My sponsor called them today and they were very helpful and informative. We found out that we had passed Stage 1 as long ago as 14-Sep but that no AOR was sent. They sent a letter containing the decision to our address here in the UK but after 5 weeks nothing has been received.

They also confirmed that my file is (and has been for sometime) in London VO now for processing. We were given the File number and can now actually see this information on E-CAS as these updates did not show via our receipt number.

For those who have been over 65 days and are feeling a bit frazzled- I would highly recommend having your sponsor call the CIC call centre for information- in our case it has certainly brightened my mood and they were helpful and informative by all accounts.

Lastly a question- do I need to worry about the lack of this letter? I'm relocating to Canada in another 6 weeks and was thinking this would be a useful thing to have at entry.
hi we have the same date when cic received our application .but no emails yet.

I would recommend asking your sponsor to call them if they are based in Canada. There should be an update.

i tried both

Ah that's annoying Mrs.Sam How long ago did you complete Stage 1? For me it's been 5 weeks and I haven't received any confirmation that my VO has my file- so I am planning to contact them to confirm.

I don't think that is generally one of the updates ecas will show. In the sponsor approval letter it says that it is being sent to the visa office abroad, but until you either receive AOR from the visa office (not all visa offices give this so don't hold your breath) or until you hear about extra documents being required, an interview, or that the decision has been made. Some visa offices give AOR when they receive it. Some visa offices give AOR when they actually open the package and begin working on it, and some visa offices don't give AOR at all. But I REALLy wouldn't wait around and expect for ecas to update to application received by visa office. I'd say calling the call centre or emailing the visa office at the email that was given on your sponsor approval is your best bet at confirmation. I think once I hit the 1 month from sponsor approval, if I haven't received an AOR from my visa office I'll be doing the same thing just to be sure they have received it.

No I am afraid it does not....and depending on your VO you may or may not get an AOR from them. :(

This happens to lots of people. Anyone who gets an interview that ends up getting denied was approved for sponsorship and then the applicant/relationship eventually not approved. Almost everyone who completes the forms and is not a criminal/on welfare gets stage 1 approval. Stage 2 is teh first time the applicant and relationship is actually thoroughly looked into with the possibility of rejection if the VO believes the relationship is not genuine or if the applicant has a criminal record or something else to keep them out of Canada.

it the same thing with me i tried checking my status online but i don't see anything yet...don't worry the most important is the immigration is contacting you by email or regular mail, e-cas sometimes are not up to date

I see!! Im not really worried about them thinking our relationship is not genuine. He and I have 2 children, married, a house, and well all of that. We live in the UK just now and I am a permenant resident here in Scotland. Have been for 3 years. And as far as him being a criminal, nah! haha Hes in the RAF and works as a weapons engineer. Im a wee bit worried i guess just cause someone is making the biggest decision of your life for you but, what can ya do. What do the people that get rejected do if that happens? I know you can appeal but that really stinks if you dont get in!
