My son is 6 years old and because of religious reasons we were not very comfortable of sending our son to school that early in his life. We wanted to do his early education at home and only send him when the compulsory education starts. Therefore we did not send our son to school at Junior Kindergarten level (age bracket: 4 - 5) and Kindergarten level (age bracket: 5 - 6). We checked that the mandatory/compulsory education starts from class 1 (age bracket: 6 - 7). Now we will start sending our son to school after summer holidays.

The issue is that we got to apply for PR card renewal and they have been asking for his 5 year school record which unfortunately is not there. Though I have been working in Canada and is also submitting my tax returns and my employer is also submitting tax receits on monthly basis. I am afraid that they would consider my son's non-availability of school record a big negative and will hurt our chances of renewing our PR card. We would be obliged if someone could guide us on that...

Print out a source stating what the mandatory age for start of school is in your province and send them that along with a a letter stating that you did not send him to kindergarten and that it is not mandatory in your province.

Provide other proof that he has been in Canada such as who has been taking care of him while you work and a statement from that person as well as a statement from your GP who I am sure has treated your son at times and given him immunizations for the various childhood diseases.

thankyou soo much for replying back n giving your advice... i have a few more ques regarding the matter:

1) can i quote the cic website where it states tht the compulsory school going age for children in ontario is 6 yrs?ions?

2) my wife is a stay-at-home mom n has been taking care of my son thru out this period n she has also been home schooling him in the last two years.. will tht help? or will tht actually be a problem tht we cant give documented proof such as daycare or baby sitters record?

3) can i provide medical prescriptions accumalated over time? or a vaccination card? or will i have to get a specific statement from my GP - who is far away from my new address since i recently moved to a new apartment?

a reply from ur end will be highly appreciated... and i thank you in advance...

1) Yes, quote any official website where it says that. CIC themselves is fine.

2) If your wife is stay-home, write that. I am sure they have a record of you being married. If your wife files taxes, send in her tax papers as well to show that she doesn't make any money.

3) Yes, provide a copy of the vaccination card and the medical prescriptions. A statement from your GP would be better but if you can't get it, you have to go with what you have.
