Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Recived my PR card today, one week after it was sent from Sydney, NS.

It took 45 days from when I landed (Dec 18th) to when they sent it (Feb 1st) It took a week to get cross country to Alberta when I now *premanently* reside :)

In other matters....I went to a Service Canada center in Red Deer, AB and right there and then they gave me my SIN (showing them my Landing document for proof). With my wife's help, I got bank accounts for separate CAD and USD funds. Her knowing who is who at the banks (where I live now is a very small town - everyone knows everyone it seems) was a great help. She also helped in exchanging my Oregon DL for an Alberta DL with who she knew. And lastly, all she had to do was to add my name to her family list on her Health Care Card - no fuss, no worries.

Now...on to getting a job...

COngrads on yr smooth landing Eric Parker! Seems that u guys are from Oregon or at least thats where u guys used to reside before moving to Alberta! I was from Oregon too! i used to live in Eugene and Portland and am planning to move to Calgary. I am in the process of getting my visa and would sure like to learn more abt the job mkt in Calgary or Alberta in general if u care to share and also accomodation wise.

Another question, what if we land and i do not have an address while at the airport, is there anywhere we can provide the address laters and have them send the PR card to me later after i settle down with an address.

Thanks
