Currently I am working for my company on Open Work Permit basis. To increase my chance for getting invite under CEC. Can I ask my employer to file for LMIA? What would the risk of it?

I am a Software Engineer and currently working for less than a year under my company in Canada. The salary is beyond median rate.

Sure you can. They will need to prove no Canadian/PR could be hired, fill out all the paperwork and pay $1k.
