Are T4 forms mandatory for employment verification purposes in Canada? Or would the reference letter from the employer which has the hours and salary suffice?
I'm asking this question because my salary has a non-taxable component which isn't reflected in the T4. (My salary is almost double what is mentioned in the T4) Therefore, I would have to do a lot of explaining with pay stubs and cover letters. It's a lot more preferable if I didn't have to submit the T4s.
If CIC contacts me later for the T4s, I'd be more than happy to submit them with explanations. I just don't want the unnecessary trouble if it's not necessary.
