- I used a laptop with built-in camera. Don't use Mac book, laptop is ok but personally I think laptop is the best way
- during the whole process you will be recorded, in preparation for the test, you can check your camera and the picture taken will determined if it will be valid.
- In step 6 what they mean is don't take picture of yourself, instead, you will hold the ID card in front of the camera , point the picture on the ID toward the camera that fit in the square that they set up ( you will know exactly what to do at this point, the instruction is very clear so don't worry). you can have so many attempts if you don't like the picture taken for some reason, blurry, for example.

I hope this helps and best of luck to you!!!
THANK YOU very much for that clear and detailed explanation!!! I was really worried about the process and how the laptop's camera would work! I will use my laptop, as it seems (from your explanation) that they've made the process to take the pic clear and easy!

I used Mac Book for citizenship test and I had absolute no issues during the test. You need any good working laptop/MacBook for test with good wifi/internet connectivity.

Just one more quick question: Did you guys use the PR card as photo id?? They list it as an acceptable document!

Because it says it must have "your signature" on it. But the PR card does NOT have a signature!! Or is it better to just use a drivers license, as it DOES have a signature??

Thanks!

Hey all, happy to see most of you have gotten BG check complete and/or test invite ! In my case I haven’t gotten any update, ghost or anything since my application began to be processed in may (other than the ghost update October 7 we all got due to them changing our passwords etc). Anyone else in this situation? Timeline in signature. Cheers!

I applied my application as a family and the all of the activity status for me and my wife is completed except ceremony. But for my kids, everything is either in progress or not started? Its been a month that my last status was updated and 2 months for my kids. Is there anyone like that or any help on when we will get ceremony update?

Thanks for sharing the update. Haven't heard of offices sending passport copy requests in the same email for the citizenship test.
Is this something new?
Seems like it is very random. I've heard of a few people getting it but certainly not in the same email as the test invite. When you get the passport request, they also want you to translate all stamps from other languages (if any) to English or French. In my case, I didn't have any so it was very straightforward. Just scanned all the pages (even the blank ones - this is a requirement) and emailed them. I got an acknowledgement from an IRCC officer within an hour and a half of submitting it that they have added my passport copy to my file.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the note. Translating the stamps would be such a pain, I could imagine. Especially when there are multiple stamps of different languages. Anyways, do everyone get a passport page copy request?
I remember they asked only for the passport biopages at the time of applying. (Online applicant). Thanks

Translating is a pain because you have to get the translation done by certified translators and provide an affidavit and all. Not everyone gets a passport copy request - it is random - just like the fingerprint request. Cannot definitively say there's any logic to it. Maybe it's a QA/QC thing for them to ensure the program is running smoothly - who knows!? In my case, I don't have any extensive travel history, my passport is the same since I got my PR (no renewal, etc.), and I've never travelled to any of the countries that may potentially be red-flagged by Canada. Plus, no travel at all to the US. No work trips outside Canada as well.

You are right about submitting bio-pages at the time of applying. I think that's for online applications only. If you're submitting a paper application, I think, they ask you to submit all pages just the way I did now. Again, not 100% certain. I could be wrong.
