Been almost a month since I heard anything, hope things are ok with my application as I didn't order GCMS notes.
Seems though most applicants get DM right after their BGC starts, I guess that's not the case for me.

Hello seniors,

Just a quick question, is there any implications on the sponsorship case if someone is laid off and goes on EI - employment insurance? The sponsorship approval is already done though. Is it safe to go on EI ? Btw yes my company was downsizing and unfortunately thats what they had to do. Its okay my finances are good but would like to know if its safe for me to apply for EI without affecting our case plus do i need to inform CIC at all ?

i am in the same bad luck boat as you. i was layoff 1 week after i submitted my app. for me i applied for ei right away. applying for ei does not your pr app. you need to apply for ei within 4 weeks after being laid off or service canada can delay your ei app/claim. search around and you will find out claiming ei does not affect your pr app.

I am a June applicant and AOR 2 was received on September 11. How do we know whether they have started with the background check ? Despite numerous attempts, I am not able to link my application to my GcKey account. Do they add any line to PA's ECAS account after they start with the background check?

My spouse got back her stamped passport in hand today and this has brought a happy end to our sponsorship application.

Our timelines were -

Type - Outland
VO - Pretoria (Applicant country - Mauritius)
Application Sent - 27th April 2017
AOR - 26th May 2017
SA - 7th June 2017
Medicals Passed - 13th Sep 2017
DM - 18th Sep 2017 (No Interview)
PPR - 18th Sep 2017
Passport stamped - 28th Sep 2017

Hope the above helps anyone tracking their applications.
