Hello seniors,

Just a quick question, is there any implications on the sponsorship case if someone is laid off and goes on EI - employment insurance? The sponsorship approval is already done though. Is it safe to go on EI ? Btw yes my company was downsizing and unfortunately thats what they had to do. Its okay my finances are good but would like to know if its safe for me to apply for EI without affecting our case plus do i need to inform CIC at all ?

Thanks guys
And congrats to all the happy faces :))
Hey I'm so sorry that this happened. Seeing as no one has answered here, maybe start a new thread in the forum? All the best!

#1 - You really no need to inform CIC about your Job status. Since your SA is approved, no need to worry about it.
#2 - If I was in your situation if my finance is good and can be managed without applying for EI - I would prefer not to apply until she gets her PR.

But if anyone has been in this situation - I'll let them share their experience as well.

I am at the slowest VO (LONDON) and I was hoping for the same. I think the backlog has caused a lot of delays in otherwise straightforward cases. Hopefully you get DM this month :)
Hi Kinza_Bee, I wanted to ask you something, we have just been transferred to LVO last week and our medical is still pending. ECAS shows In Process for the PA side, do you recommend we contact LVO regarding medical or wait for them to contact us. Sorry, just been very confused with our process so far. Thank you for your suggestions....

You should definitely talk to ircc because as far as my knowledge goes medical should be done by CPC. However, it could be that mississauga is swamped and is getting the VO to do medical. What does your GCkey show?

Kinza could be right, because as far as my spouse's VO is concerned, the medical request came from them and they assessed the results. So it could be true that CPC was swamped and delegated the medical to your VO to take care of.

We do not have access to GCKey, since our process is being handled by the representative. My rep, keeps saying it is normal for the VO to ask medical, however since it is still under 1 year of the processing limit, they are asking me not to stress out. But I have learnt so much from you all and it is because of your guidance and advise to resend the Sched A that our file has finally moved, hence I thought to ask your thoughts on this as well :)! Thanks

You are welcome. If CPC had requested medical and it was still pending they wouldn't have transferred the file over to the VO. Maybe wait another few weeks? But keep bugging your rep. You could also call CIC and hear the automated updates. same as logging in to GCKEY.

Good idea. I'll call them on Tuesday then. Let's see what they say.
