Really nice to see that 9th April applicants started to receive AOR. Hopefully, April 10 boundary line applicants will get AOR soon.
 
Hi,

I'm not sure this waiting game is good for my health!!!

Our application was received on 16 April in NS with Buffalo as the processing office....no confirmation of receipt or request for next stage although reading other posts it looks like it should be very soon (holding my breath!!!).

Question is this...I have a 2 year work visa which expires on 5 December 2010, if i get my docs back and confirmation of processing before then do i still need to make another temporary residence application? I have read somewhere that the 'pending processing' status is enough for us to remain but i cannot find it again (typical!). Does anyone know if this is correct or i was imagining things!

Oh, another one....can somebody who 'is in the know' post a list of abbreviations and their meanings if possible.

Has your application online status changed from "Application Received" to something else on receiving 1st AOR ?

I just started the process and I am trying to gather and fill out all the documents required to immigrate to Canada FSW as better as possible. I am applying from US and have been living and studying here for the last 6 years. I graduated and now I am working under my OPT.
In trying to completing my paper work for immigration to Canada, there is still one thing I am not quite well understanding;

Do I still need to take an English language exam and mail that to NS office when I already have a degree in Finance from an American institution where the official language used in that institution is English?

Could you please, one of you that has been in my situation before, help me in what should I do, take an English exam (which means losing time for me) or just rely on my Degree that will be enough prove to the office in NS that I know and mastered English .

I cannot find anywhere on the cic site something that explains these cases!

Hi, my status still says 'Application Received'. I will let you know if it changes to something else later on.

hi ana2010

It is a recommendation from the CIO that you take the IELTS so that there will be a SUBJECTIVE grade on your language proficiency. Otherwise, if you submit any kind of proof such as letter/diploma/notes regarding your English proficiency and the visa officer reviewing your case gives you a zero "0", then you won't have any chance of submitting any more proofs.

Hi,

Yes we need to show the current amount and mostly people borrow money and what they do is after putting money into the account they take out the current balance statement from the bank which shows only current balance not the transaction and visa officer accepts that BUT its a risky option if you withdraw those funds and later at the medical/interview time visa officer ask you to provide 3 months statement then you will be in trouble and you will have to prove that these are actually your own funds and you got it by mean of selling some assets etc. But its recommended that you should leave that money in the account until you get your visa stamped.

Guys I did not see this thread before.I applied Apr 9 2010 (Received by CIO).My credit card was charged on Jun 04 2010.But I did not receive AOR or email.Its over 60 days.What is the current trend?

Applicants uptil 13th April has started receiving their AOR so yours is 9th April hopefully this is your week, as one of 9th April applicant got the AOR yesterday. I will add you in the list

So you are saying I need to take the exam before mailing the whole application to Nova Scotia?
Can I mail the application and in the mean while take/send the scores whenever they're ready from the exam center! ;D

I understand the Visa Office needs the exam...but I am not there yet, my docs. still need to be mailed to the primary office (Nova Scotia) before reaching the Visa Office...

I see you guys are a bit ahead of me ::)

Hi Ana2010,

Yes you can send the documents to Nova Scotia without your IELTS result but just book your IELTS and attach the receipt of the IELTS test with your documents to let them know that you have already booked it even though its not necessary but its safe. In the meantime just take the IELTS test because it will take about 60 to 90 days to get your first approval from Nova Scotia.

And you will need to do the english test even you have studied in America unless you are a citizen of America. My qualification is from Australian Univesity but i am not a citizen here so i myself had to gave the IELTS to get the points for it otherwise visa officer will not give much points.
