$1000 per WEEK? But he will live with me in the apartment that I rent in Canada and I have a TAship. My monthly salary is around $2000 so why would they ask for him to have $1000 per week?
Read the post carefully: I said "per week of STAY". So for example, he is requesting to stay in Canada for 2 weeks, a good amount to show would be at least $2000 of funds, plus airfare cost.

Also, "rule of thumb", meaning, it's not an official CIC rule, but a guideline determined by our experiences on this forum for a good amount to show for the proof of financial support.

Hope that clears it up!

Yes, I understand that. I want him to stay with me for my whole semester, about 3.5 months. So it's kind of weird that it's around $14000 for less than 4 months when spousal OWP asks for you to have $15000 for the whole year. ($11000 for me and $4000 for him). If I had that money for the whole year, I'd apply for spousal open work permit.

No logic...

Like I said, it's not a hard and fast rule, you are either taking this literally or perhaps being condescending towards my responses. Just telling you what it takes to make a compelling application for a TRV in general. Your husband may very well be approved under your current circumstances, even it's not the most ideal scenario for a guaranteed approval.
