Hello, I have an unusual situation. I am flying back home to my home country in the next week to see family for summer. I am also planning to return home at Christmas for just over a week. THe issue is I currently haven't meant my residency obligation of 730 days in 5 years and my PR card expires at the end of September. I will meet my obligation in October as I am only 10 days short. However with current processing times I don't think I will receive the new PR card in time for my planned Christmas holiday. Since I will not be home very long at Christmas I don't think the PRTD will be processed in time. So I was wondering if I can apply for the PRTD whilst I am in my home country next week and return to Canada on my valid PR card, and when I return to my home country the PR card will be processing but I could return on the PRTD. My question is would there be a problem with the PRTD because I had left Canada, applied for PRTD, then returned on PR card, then left Canada, would they cancel the PRTD? Thank you for your advice.
