I have my temporary residency- I am married to a Canadian Citizen. I can't find an open work permit application. Also, I was considering going to school as well. Should I send in a study permit and a work permit with my PR application?

Thanks

Here is a relevant link containing the eligibility requirements for the spouse of a citizen to get a work permit:

From what I understand, you need to have passed the first stage of permanent residency to get an open work permit.

As an American, you should apply outland, as it is significantly faster; you are allowed to be in Canada and apply outland. There is no work permit option with an outland app. You must continue maintaining your visitor status until your PR app is approved.

If you want to apply for a study permit, you must first be accepted to an educational institute. You will be paying international tuition rates and will need to show proof of significant funds, at least $10 000.

Thank you for your help!

One more question... I am trying to figure out exactly what CIC wants when it asks for "Proof of conjugal relationship.(e.g. commitment, housing arrangements, social activities, attitudes and mindsets towards your relationship." What exactly am I expected to produce as proof?
....and "statutory declarations of individuals with personal knowledge that your relationship is genuine and continuing" ...What type of document must they fill out for this and from how many people?

Thank you!!

You mentioned in another thread that you are married. If that is the case, then the "proof of conjugal relationship" part should not apply to you. That is for people who are not married/common-law and applying under "conjugal" status.
