Hi

My hubby is working in US and we as a family planning to get PR and immigrate to Canada. We are Indian citizen. The issue is my husband does not have birth certificate. I READ IN ONE OF THE FORUM ABOUT AFFIDAVIT FROM LAWYER. CAN HE GET THE AFFIDAVIT FROM LAWYER IN INDIA WITH THE DATE AND PLACE OF BIRTH AND PROVIDE THAT AS PROOF OF AGE FOR APPLYING PR.HE DON'T HAVE ANY OF THE PARENT NAME IN HIS SCHOOL CERTIFICATE . WILL AFFIDAVIT WORK

Birth certificate isn't required in the first place, his valid passport is the one document required.

Thank you for quick response. But while applying for visa through express entry it says the necessary documents for proof of age is birth certificate. As my husband is working in IT i opted for express entry visa. Is there any other option for getting PR

You need to present birth certificate of your daughter/son to prove that they are your biological child.

Thanks,

In the supporting documents there is a point statino as below.

Copy of birth certificate or other equivalent document
Purpose

To prove the dependent children’s relationship to the parents

I am not clear what does this mean. Is it OK if I provide my kids birth certificate if necessary.

If you have dependent children you must provide one of the following.
  • The document must be one of the following:
    • birth certificate;
    • equivalent document from the birth country; or
    • letter of explanation (where no birth certificate is available in the country).

From the above statement i understood that I need to submit my children's birth certificate when necessary..please correct me if am wrong

Only depend children birth certificate is needed. Birth certificate not required for primary applicant and spouse.
