Just landed in Canada in December. My temporary work permit was issued under "Multimedia Software Designer" that was EXEMPT from a LMO.

I would like to apply for PR under the skilled worker programme. Here is the bit on their website:

killed workers and professionals: Who can apply—Arranged employment

If you have an offer of permanent employment from a Canadian employer, it can improve your chances of having your federal skilled worker application approved.

Depending on your circumstances, the requirements for a valid offer of employment are different.

1) If you are currently working in Canada:

your current employer must have made an offer to give you a permanent job if you are accepted as a federal skilled worker, and
your temporary work permit must be valid both when you apply for a permanent resident visa and when the visa is issued.
In addition:

your work permit must have been confirmed by Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) through a positive labour market opinion or
you must be in a category that is exempt from an Arranged Employment Opinion
in order for your offer of employment to be valid.

This is the tricky part. Will I fall under "you must be in a category that is exempt from an Arranged Employment Opinion
in order for your offer of employment to be valid"?

My employer has agreed to hire me permanently.

Yes. You will be eligible under the FSW2 category, if (1) your work permit is valid for more than 1 year (2) your current employer offered you a permanent indeterminate employment.

Note: You will also have to make sure you stay on work permit, at the time of application and at the time of visa issuance.

my wp is about to expire in 4 months, and i am expecting my medicals PPR aroudn the same time.

Does embassy prioritize FSW2 applications or they work at their own pace and dont give a s h i t if someone is missing PR by 2-3 weeks?

I emailed my consulate but didnt hear back.

Apply for a work permit renewal. Even if you receive medical at the time of your PR expiry, you will not be eligible for Visa, if your WP is not valid at the time of Visa Issuance. i.e. till the day you land as a PR, you have to have a valid work permit.

Now, that the IT preferred work permit method is no longer applicable, you have to talk to your employer and get an LMO and then apply for extension.

Your PR application is 100% dependent on your Work Permit, extend it and don't lose grounds.

They work at their own pace. Actually FSW2 is taking a longer time than FSW1, as per the trends of the people in this forum.

Good Luck.
