Applying for online study permit from outside canada

Hi, can anyone please tell me how the online service for a study permit works outside canada? I mean when and where will I be asked to submit my intl passport? Does it take normal processing time like the visa office? Can anyone pls reply me?

The processing time for online application is similar. You'll will be asked through email to send your passport to the CHC office in your country.
