Pre-Assessed..
Hi,

I will be back in Canada next month. I am a valid PR holder. I have to apply sponsorship for my dependent child (new born outside canada) to have my family back. My rest of family has PR as well and will travel once i get new kid sponsored and PR. I have following questions to plan way forward:

1) How long does it take to get new born kid sponsored (I will apply from TORONTO and kid is in Pakistan)?
2) Can I apply for sponsorship without having a job/income?

Thanks a lot.

1. About 1 month at CPC Mississauga followed by 10-23 months in Islamabad.

2. Yes, there is no minimum income for sponsoring a dependent child. However, you must not be bankrupt or claiming social assistance (welfare).

If you go this route, make sure the rest of your family complies with their residency obligation.

The other option is to apply for a Temporary Residence Visa to bring the child to Canada, then apply for the child's PR after they are here. Most likely the TRV will not be approved, and they will instead require you to get a Temporary Residence Permit, since the child plans to remain in Canada permanently. Then you would apply for the child's PR under Humanitarian and Compassionate consideration inland, via CPC-Vegreville. This option is a little more complex, but given the long timeline for processing at Islamabad, it may be the better option, and possibly even the only option to enable the rest of your family to maintain their PR status, depending on how long they have been out of Canada already.

For young dependent child it will take less than 6 months.

My kid is only 18 months old. Any recent experiences for such a case from Islamabad? x months?

How to apply and what docs are required? What would be steps required here in Islamabad as I will be in Canada?

Thanks for the support
