Applying for citizenship while PR renewal appilcation is in process

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I submitted our PR renewal applications on August 1, 2022 and it is still in process. I was wondering if it is okay to go ahead and apply for citizenship now or wait to receive the renewed PR card before applying.

If you meet the eligibility criteria there's no reason to wait... they are 2 separate processes

Eventually u will destroy or give up the renewed PR card once you are granted citizenship

Great, thanks for the reply! Thought the two were separate but just wanted to confirm. We meet the eligibility criteria so will go ahead and get started on the citizenship application.
