Applying for CIBC GIC from Philippines problem

my friend wants to apply for GIC from philippines through CIBC. I called CIBC, they said its not gonna work. Because CIBC dont have a physical branch in the Philippines.

Not at all. You can apply for the CIBC GIC online. Once that's done CIBC will send a list of instructions on how to deposit from your local bank account. For me, i transferred from my bpi account.
