I overstayed my AVE in Canada for a year. I’ve decided to go back to France by my own will. My only concern now, is to know if I have strong chance to get a student permit after all. What I’m I supposed to do? Applying for a student permit now? Wait?

You definitely cannot apply for the study permit from within Canada. You will need to wait until you have returned home.

I would recommend that you wait a minimum of 6-8 months before applying for the study permit. Longer would be better.
