Applying for a new SIN card after PR landing - any prob if I can't find old SIN?

I am planning to apply for my new SIN card next week...do I need to submit my previous SIN card (starts with a "9"), before I can get the new card?

1. No, Service Canada can find your previous SIN.

Thanks....are you sure? I have a copy of my previous SIN card...just don't have the original card with me...
