Apply spouse visitor visa and work permit at the same time.

Dear All,

I have a post graduate work permit and working in a high skilled job. My wife who is an Indian citizen would like to apply for a spouse open work permit. However, the processing times for this visa is about 60 to 90 days. We are planning to apply for a spouse visitor visa simultaneously which has a processing time of 14 days.

My wife is currently in India and applying for the visas from India.

Is it possible to do that ? For visitor visa, can we state the purpose of travel as "waiting for work permit" ?

Your wife may be refused because she isn't actually a visitor. Does she have a longterm job in Canada? Other strong ties? If she also applies for an SOWP it is pretty obvious that she doesn't plan on returning home..
