Apply for visit visa or workpermit at Canadian border from USA

I'm an Indian national and yy wife is an international student in Canada. I had applied for a Canadian visit visa for myself from UAE where I currently live but my application was refused. I have a valid B1/B2 visa for US. I heard we can apply Canadian work permit or visit visa at the Canadian border from US. Is it true and what is the processing time?

No you can’t apply for entry at the border. Your only option is to apply again online. I would suggest applying for an OWP if you want to remain in Canada with your spouse. Families of international students aren’t guaranteed permits or visas.

I had applied Open work permit in May 2021, the application is not picked at all.. I received my BVL in June 2021, but since then there has been no update. I raised a webform in Sep 21 to withdraw the application (although it still shows active). I then applied for visit visa in Nov'21 which got refused.

I have reapplied visit visa last week. But I understand that Abu Dhabi VAC uses some artificial intelligence based software which only displays basic captured information from the application due to which the rejection rates are very high.
