Hi, I will move to AB next March.
In Hong Kong, we can apply for credit cards very easily as long as we have an income and there are so many benefits like accumulating points from every payment to redeem cash rebate or some gifts.

My question is -
For the first few year, I will be out of job as I will stay at home looking after my baby.
Will there be any problem for me to apply for credit card if I dont have an income ?
I think I will cut out all the credit cards I have in Hong Kong, as there is no point in using a HK-based credit card in Canada.

I wouldn't suggest you cut out all the Hong Kong credit cards. I didn't cut all of mine - just a couple. Unlike Hong Kong, many credit cards issued here need to pay annual fee.

You can apply cards with no income requirement.

thanks ! then I will keep one. Just to make sure I will remember to call the customer hotline to waive the annual fee every year.

It would be a good idea to keep your HK credit cards.
However, without a job here in Canada, your best bet will be the bank where you will deposit the funds that you have with you upon immigrating.
They usually give what you call a secured credit card where your credit limit will be an amount within your deposited funds.
Credit cards issued in Canada would allow you to start building your credit history while overseas-issued credit cards do not.
