Hi,

I am currently working in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with my contract expiring in 2.5 months and my work permit 3 months, so about 2 weeks in between both expiry dates.
In the event of failing to get a new job by the end of my work permit, is there any way I can apply for an extension to stay here while I'm still in Canada?
I have been looking for solutions and ways to apply online on cic.gc, and also offices where I can find someone to seek advice from, but hasn't got any results.
I have not yet been eligible for permanent residency, so I am looking for a temporary solution until I find a new employer who is willing to pay for my LMO and my next work permit, until I can apply for PR.

You can try to apply to change conditions of your stay as a visitor and extend your stay -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visitor.asp
If you get an extension - you are a visitor and cannot work without securing a work permit first.
See the guide here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5551ETOC.asp

Agreed that without an approved LMO, your only real option is to convert your status to visitor if you want to remain in Canada. This won't allow you to keep working - but you will be able to stay in Canada if approved.
