I need to visit Canada and applied for a visit visa this week using their online website. The current processing time is 35 days. I would like to visit Canada next month and live in Los Angeles. Can I also go and apply in person at the Los Angeles consulate? Will this help me get the visit visa sooner?

Any help would be appreciated. I have visited Canada before a few times.

are you a us citizen? US citizens do not need to apply for a visa to enter canada, they simply go to the border, and the agent will either let you through or deny entry based on your intentions for entering.

Thank you for the suggestions rhcohen2014. Couple of questions
1. I have just applied online this week. Will that be an issue if I go in person?
2. Do I need to mention this to them?
3. Will I have to again pay for the visa processing? or can I use the receipt from the online application payment?

First landed in 09/2016. Visa Expired 11/2016. Reapplied with approved TRV valid until 2021
I dont think going to consulate and applying by paper would do any difference..it might even cause delay as you have processed an online application. In fact CIC wants applicants to use the online method as it's the fastest way..

i wouldn't try applying a second time, you already have an application in process. my point was going to the consulate and explaining to them your situation might help you get it approved faster, as they *may* be able to track down your pending application, and help you. they may not be able to help - just depends on whether they have access to an already pending application. they also may be helpful in pointing you towards a phone number to call to track your application process.

Explain what situation exactly?

Your case is just bad planning. Imagine if they should hear people that didn't plan properly and help them? They would have no time to process applications whatsoever!!!
