Hello to any senior members who might be able to help. My husband (he's Mexican and I'm Canadian) and I are currently in Canada and we've applied to extend his TRV. His original date to leave was in November and we sent in the application in October to extend his time. We have not received an answer yet but are having to return to Mexico at the end of this month due to a health issue of his mothers. My question is as follows. He has clearly stayed past the six month mark and if we don't receive a reply to his extension before we leave how will the immigration officials at the airport know he's actually got implied status and not red flag him for future entries into Canada. Any advice or information you may have will be great.

There are no exit controls for Immigration when leaving Canada. His extension request will eventually show up on line. As he would need a new TRV (unless he has a multiple entry one) to re-enter Canada, just keep proof of his exit date.

As soon as he leaves Canada he no longer has implied status.
