I got my passport back today on Feb 21. The surprising thing is, my visa will expire on March 31, 2011. They issued the visa on Feb 18, 2011. How cum it happen?

I see that our medicals have been done on Oct 5, 2010, which means that your visa expiry date should be Oct 5, 2011 or same as the expiry date of your passport.

If your passport is still valid beyond Oct 5, 2011, it means that it is a mistake made by the visa office, if not, it means that they have not done any mistake, and have given you the expiry date of your visa same as the one of your passport as the instructions says.

Congratulations and good luck.

What are you going to do now? These messed up everything. I don't believe that your passport is gonna expired soon (at least for 6 months). Any reason why? Or you're gonna send the passport back to Buffalo. In the worst case, you have to land earlier than you expected which is terrible!!

excuse my language... but this s**t is being so frustrating still waiting for a mediccal request....... I am going to give up on this, I am happy in America !!

buddyy my inprocess is same as yours, and they have given bfd of exact 4 month which is 01st march 2011.
so lets see.may be something happens in march

hey guys it looks so obvious now,,that all the u.s offices are stuck now..for the fact none of the member of this topic got any major development,
(including me) in last two months,
officially two months of 2011 are gone and we haven't seen any major progress ,hard to believe but u.s cic offices have gone really really slow....
bcos for the reason they havn't passed a single case atleast on this forum in 2011,i don't know when was the last time buffalo or any u.s office went like this,
just for mind sake if we think that they were working on previous 2010/2009 cases then they wud have been done for atleast 10 cases ,they can't b on a single file for 2 months or more, there has to be a really god reason for all this.

No doubt, man ;). And I'm happy living in US too =))...

I see that our medicals have been done on Oct 5, 2010, which means that your visa expiry date should be Oct 5, 2011 or same as the expiry date of your passport.

What I suspect is:
1. I renewed my passport 2 times. My first renewal was until March 31, 2011 (the same visa expiration date) and the 2nd renewal was until March 31, 2012. I knew that they might not look for the 2nd renewal date once they see my 1st renewal date, so I posted a sticky note in my passport mentioning my name, DOB, Passport expiration date and the page no in my passport where the 2nd renewal date is stamped.

2. They were responding couple of people that they cant issue visa before April 1, coz the govt is restricting new entry in CANADA. Due to my F-1 status circumstances that my status has expired on Feb 17 and I must leave USA within next 60 days... they considered my case and gave me visa, provided that I have to land before March 31, 2011 (may be they devide one full year in 4 slots of 3 months each to restrict entry) during the 1st slot of entry to Canada.

Dont know what is the case, but anyway I have to make it now. I will probably go and land and then come back. I recently got a PhD admission in USA and will start from fall. But it will be a problem for my wife to arrange everything from my home country.

Thank you guys for being with me all the way of my journey. And I wish all the best for you all.
Pro 1, Thank you especially

Good luck on your way ;). I see why you have such a short time in your Visa. at least they're careful and reasonable enough to look case by case. If what you're saying above is correct, I should have the PPR sometime in March and get the Visa in April. I don't have any restriction with US Immigration so mine is considered as "no-rush application" ;)

I can also see those people are talking about you that the guy is a no rush applicant and he is still very very small duck, lets give him some time to look around american chicks before he messes up with canadian chicks ;). good luck my friend
