We all here are waiting from april 2010 (since we got our 2nd AOR). So, I guess you just need to keep patience.

Today my ecase has been changed to IN PROCESS (in Buffalo) but still with RBVO details

1. Yes, you can go to Canada on valid I-20. When I was in school the international advisor told us that we should get a stamp or a signature in our I-20's if we want to go to Canada or Mexico (I believe it's called the AVR, Automatic Visa Revalidation). You might not need that stamp or signature (I can't remember for sure).
Here is a link to CBP PDF document that describes this: http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/travel/id_visa/revalidation.ctt/revalidation.pdf

2. I guess this point is not needed anymore since you can re-enter US on a expired visa. However, there were some recent changes to AVR from what I know. If you want to apply for a new visa in Canada at the US Embassy and you get refusal you CANNOT re-enter US. From what I know a lot of people were doing this so they stopped this.

Thank you jamesbond. The senario of 3rd question happened to my wife. she did not submitted her I-94.

3. What departure are you talking about? from US to Canada you didn't hand out the I-94?
Again, I am not sure, but if you plan on re-entering US from Canada on AVR you have to keep your I-94, so if you kept it - it's a good thing.

But it's better if someone with more knowledge answer you.

Have a good one.

I have a same situation and i m going to canada in May 2011. U can officially re neter in usa if u have valid I20 with signature...by DSO.. if u visited less that 30 days to canada or mexico......or us virgin islands..
I make sure at ICE.GOV
But make sure ur school keep alive ur sevis record..........

Hi All,

I have one general query,
Currently I am in US, and had courier my passport to NYC for visa stamping on 24th Jan, 2011, still waiting for my passport, my status in ecas is updated as Decision Made, when can i expect to receive my passport, as my US visa is going on expire soon.

Please suggest as its almost a month now, very worried....please suggest.............
How should i contact them......have they misplaced my passport?

Thanks,
Ash

Contacting them would be the best.
Of course the best would have been if you went personally to NY for the stamps.

But they can't hold your passports too much. So give them a call.

NY visa office doesn't allow in-person option.

Thanks for your suggestion, but how to contact them over phone, as they don't have direct contact number and its all voice recording. I have dropped them severals mails, but no reply.
Please suggest when can i expect to receive the passport, based on your experience, also what other ways i can contact them.

Thanks,
Ash

Hi

I just checked ecas and My address is back.
so something is wrong with online system or may be they are updating their system..

Hope they implement such system which will give all information like step by step process and wait time for that.
and also show files they are processing right now means till which date they are processing right now...

Also our progress in details where we are standing in process with all steps they had taken on our file.

You should get your passport back in 1-2 weeks. Don't worry.

I got my passport back today on Feb 21. The surprising thing is, my visa will expire on March 31, 2011. They issued the visa on Feb 18, 2011. How cum it happen?

It may be printing mistake....it should be March 31, 2012
VO may be in imprecision that they are living in 2010.

May be you can contact them....

Best Luck
