to ben
at least it got transferred to nyc.. if it had stayed in buffalo you would be guaranteed an even longer wait..
also try consoling yourself that the timer on ur case doesnt realistically start till all of your documents get to VO and it enters the queue..
so its not really been 17 months.. more like 8 months .. another 6 months of inaction (i,e 64 weeks since they received ur file) gives you the right to get in touch with buffalo and demand an update :-P

Hey guys,

If I am graduating and want to leave US, can I have my file transferred to a different office like outside US? Thanks

Applications filed through NS --> Buffalo (Filed from USA)

No mail has come yet.
I have sent an Email and Case specific inquiry last friday no response Yet..
It is frustrating why it is taking so long after Decision made
Its getting crazy...
I also requested for CAIPS today
Any advice seniors.......
What can I do...?

Hi All,

I have one general query,
Currently I am in US, and had courier my passport to NYC for visa stamping on 24th Jan, 2011, still waiting for my passport, my status in ecas is updated as Decision Made, when can i expect to receive my passport, as my US visa is going on expire soon.

Thanks,
Ash

That's so funny, at least I'm luckier that most of you guys because they have to have me to finish landing before Sep 15 2011 otherwise my Med Results will be expired ;)

Guys... have not received my passport yet. Its been 38 days since they received it. And you know what...now I am not worried at all. I have a different problem ... can you plz suggest me where I can get a good forum for F-1 vissa issues?

In case if anyone of you can help..I am posting my question...

1. If I go Canada with a valid I-20 for no more than 30 days, can I come back to USA without visa with my I-20?
2. If I need a new F-1 visa and apply from Canada...and in case if I am rejected...can I come back to usa with my I-20, if I am not outside of USA for morthan 30 days?
3. and, what to do if someone had not submitted his/her I-94 during departure? What consequence it my cause? Is it possible to correct the mistake?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes, you can go to Canada on valid I-20. When I was in school the international advisor told us that we should get a stamp or a signature in our I-20's if we want to go to Canada or Mexico (I believe it's called the AVR, Automatic Visa Revalidation). You might not need that stamp or signature (I can't remember for sure).
Here is a link to CBP PDF document that describes this: http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/travel/id_visa/revalidation.ctt/revalidation.pdf

2. I guess this point is not needed anymore since you can re-enter US on a expired visa. However, there were some recent changes to AVR from what I know. If you want to apply for a new visa in Canada at the US Embassy and you get refusal you CANNOT re-enter US. From what I know a lot of people were doing this so they stopped this.

3. What departure are you talking about? from US to Canada you didn't hand out the I-94?
Again, I am not sure, but if you plan on re-entering US from Canada on AVR you have to keep your I-94, so if you kept it - it's a good thing.

But it's better if someone with more knowledge answer you.

Have a good one.
