Hi,

this is frustrating every one who is having my timeline has got med and ppr why my ECAS STATUS still it shows

We transferred your application to the New York office on August 26, 2010. The New York office may contact you.

Your application was reviewed and we started processing on October 29, 2010.

I dont understand this !!
That means your file is in process and you will be receiving Med Req soon. It takes sometimes, and NYVO works really slow.

Guys, another update. I just got PPR in email. They have asked to submit the passports before December 30th.

A couple of questions/confirmations. Seniors, please advise.

1. I understand that the visa expiry is usually given as 1 yr from the date of medicals. I also understand that you need to be in Canada for 3 years out of 5 years to maintain your PR status. My question is that when does that 5 year period start? Is it from the date you land, or from the date of visa issuance?

I need some time before I decide on the exact date to land and move to Canada. So, I want to get as much time as possible before the 5 year period starts. Please advise.

First of all, congratulations.

The period of time starts from the date you become a permanent resident in Canada, which is the date you physically land, not the date of the visa issuance.

wish you the best of luck.

Folks, I landed yesterday (Nov. 17) at Fort Erie. It was a long and tensed journey, but thanks to God, I made it. It's my pleasure to have you along the way.

The only problem is that I have a confirmed ticket for 5th Dec, much earlier than expected arrival of my PR card. Since I am taking transit at Heathrow airport, I am required to show proof of my status here in Canada. I had a student visa until 2012, but I guess it is invalid now. Further, I was informed that the airliners don't accept landing papers as a valid travel document. I am kind of stuck now.

I am wondering whether it is possible to apply for a travel document staying inside Canada and use it while traveling to and back from my country.
Those who have experience handling this situation or know about this, please response. Thank you.

Hi Twilight871

I am also really tensed but don't worry since this is a holiday season we may expect a delay in the process.

Thanks

Thanks for the wishes everyone. I was also surprised that I got the PPR so soon. I am not sure if the fact that I got the PPR exactly 1 yr after the file was transferred to Buffalo has to do anything with it. I guess they are trying to keep the processing time under a year.

Hi,
Guys ,
I applied for the first stage via the Nova scotia province and got approval say by 1 and a half Month. Now for the second stage, i applied from the Buffalo Ny and My case assesment deadline was aug 22nd 2010 and i submitted my copies of Ielts/educational/proof of funds/police Clearence Certificate and I submitted on jul 7th and today i get the New Number from Buffalo saying that
"Before your application can be placed in processing, a determination
will be made as to whether or not you are eligible for processing. If
your application is not eligible for processing, you will receive a
letter informing you of the reasons for the decision as well as a
refund."

Did any of you guys get this kinda File Number? and how Long the process takes for determination?
what are the Next steps?
