I tried to go. Gathered all the details required, but backed out bcoz they take all day to return the passport unlike Buffalo which does it in around 2 hours.
But, yes you can visit LA in person for stamping.

Thanks for the Information Jang.

But I hope it will be done on the same day it self rite.

Twilight871,

Do you have any updates from LA office on your PRR ?

Thanks

Hi Folks,

Does any one waiting for PRR from LA office after the medicals. I know that Twilight871 and I are waiting.

Would like to know the time lines if any body is waiting.

Appreciate your reply.

Thanks

Hi Jang / Karsatjaya / Professional1 / garian4u / anyone else,

My file was transferred to LA on Oct 20 and e-cas showed "in process" since Nov 2. I got the medicals form today. Does this confirm that the VO has found all papers to be in order and waiting only for medical report, PCC, background checks etc? Just curious. LA is moving pretty fast. Hope this trend continues for all the others too.

Yes that is correct. But background checks themselves tend to vary a lot in terms of timelines, so u need to be patient if it suddenly goes slow after medicals

Most probably yes, If there was no any additional documents request along with your medical request, no quota issues, and no BG checks still going as garian4u said.

Congratulations, and wish you the best of luck.

Thank you garian4u and Professional 1 for your prompt response.

Thank you so much guys, i have just arrived from the USA borders between Buffalo and canada.

I landed today with my cousin by his car, the USA officers were so rude, they made me wait in thier offices for 2 hours to give me the refusal letter !!!!

After i got it, i turned back to Canada "my lovely country" and landed within only 5 mins. the immigration officer only asked me about the proof of funds, the visa, and the COPR, and that was it.

She granted me the PR status right away and stamped my passport, and stapled the third copy of the COPR on my passport, and told me that the PR card will be sent to my mailing address within 4 to 6 weeks.

She told me you are a permanent residnet now, and you can apply for the permanent SIN card and the OHIP rightaway without any need to wait for the PR card.

Thank god, i am now a PR, no more international student fees or work restrictions or anything else.

Wish you all the best of luck guys.
Hey professional1,
Do you remember how long did it take for in-person visa stamping at Buffalo office, if anybody arrives on time at 8:00am?

cheers

I went to Buffalo on 09 NOV 2010. I arrived at 0645, and I was told to wait at the Tim Hortons until 0730. By 0730, there was a group of 20 or more waiting to attend the consulate. After presenting my passport to the guard, the guard instructed me to go to the 30th floor. I was the fourth person in line in the consulate with my passport. I was quite worried since those ahead of me had several problems with their application, but I my application was without incident. I handed my passport over at 0750 and I had my visa by 0915. There were still people in line at 0915.

You should plan to be at HSBC Center no later than 0715 if you wish to complete the process quickly.

I went to the outlet mall for in Niagara Falls, NY before returning to land in Canada at 1145. (Landing took less than 20 minutes.)
