Hello
I am a silent observer in this forum. I need advice from you.
I am currently on L1B in US. My employer is sending me to Canada. I have received my 2nd AOR from Buffalo and current status is 'Recived by Visa office' since May 28th.
Please suggest if it is wise to move there at this stage. My worry is if buffalo callls me for interview , I am not sure if it will be possible to enter US again. Given the tight visa regulation in US, lots of visa are getting rejected - this includes B1/B2 as well and it is illegal to enter on L1B for personal visit.
Please suggest any alternative. ..shall I try not go out of US at this stage.

Guys, i have a question (not very specific to PR process but) how is the job market for 0213 in Canada ? whats the approach you guys are taking to find jobs there (monster.com etc or some consultants ?) & what kind of salary are we talking (with respect to that in US?) and how long does it take to find one ?

any thoughts or specific websites to guide on this topic will be appreciated....

I went through the same dilemma. Luckily for me, I had used up all of my 7 yrs on L1A and I didn't really have a choice. And in my case, they waived the interview like I expected they would. But if I were you, I wouldn't leave the US if I had a choice; on the off-chance that they need you for an interview. If you do come over to Canada, remember that it's not a very good idea to apply for a US visitor visa immediately. I have people in my team that were denied a US visa because the consulate thought it was 'too soon' to apply for one. But I think it also depends on how long you lived in the US. If it was long, they would understand why you would want to go over to visit friends etc.

So try to hang on if you can, but if you do have to move, you still have options to return using B1.

I hire a lot of contractors in Canada. For niche skills, particularly in SAP, there is some demand and good candidates are hard to come by. The jobs are very few compared to the US but there aren't many people either. I know there are quite a few job consultants out here.. I work with a few of them myself. Similar model as in the US.

How long finding a job will take depends on your luck as well as your skill set. You might very well find a job in the first month here. Update your resume on job sites like workopolis, dice and monster. Linkedin is a great tool as well for people to find you.

Salaries are a tad lower than they are in the US. Rent is cheap here (outside Toronto) but everything else is more expensive.

Consider applying for jobs before you reach here, particularly if you live in the US. I wouldn't come to Canada and then look for a job. Too risky. Hope that helps.

2) Indian passports cant be couriered from India, its illegal so when your visa stamping comes , you either have to travel to US or send a friend or relative.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to send over your passport through friends/relatives as well...

Guys, my medical experience. The DMP was a nice person but the office staff as well as the whole concept seems to be borne out of greed. It took me 30 minutes to complete the paperwork, while the whole medical process was over in the next 45 minutes. The blood reports seem to come in a week (too long) and overall they said they will be sending over the results to Ottawa in 2 weeks, after which Ottawa itself takes 4-6 weeks to let Buffalo know. When I insisted that I need faster delivery of my medical results to Ottawa, they got a FedEx waybill prepared for me and charged me another extra 50 USD (over and above the fees of 476 USD per person). Anyways, as far as the horror stories of stripping goes, I was definitely stripped and the DMP mentioned it was standard procedure to check for hernia. Some of the tests done were - vision, ear, flexibility of hands and legs, blood pressure, X-ray (2), urinalysis. Almost all results they could tell right then, except the blood test results.

Guys,

Two questions for you which i hope someone can help me clarify:

1 - Do medical requests come in written form via regular mail, e-mail, or both?
2 - If my online status changed to "In Process" early June, ideally when should i be expecting medical requests?

Naturally any other information regarding the process will be very helpful.

Thank you all in advance!

Finally, I got my VISAAAA !!!
