Thinking of Kathe's post, I wondered if anyone would like to share what they traditionally do at this time of year?? I'll start it.....
Tonight the Carol Ships are sailing in Vancouver Harbour. Many large and small boats are decorated with festive lights and make their way along the shoreline broadcasting carols. At major parks and beaches bonfires are lit and lots of people go down to drink hot chocolate and sing along with the music.
We used to attend the Christmas Eve service, but now we go to a friend's church before heading away to my parents home on a small island. During the year we carefully check out the growing trees and select one that looks like it will need topping in December. These trees are usually funny shaped and often require extra branches to be "surgically" added. As we go to bed, Christmas stockings are filled for the children AND adults to enjoy before breakfast, followed by the main presents and a light lunch. A brisk walk to work off the coming dinner is in order if there isn't too much snow. Around 5pm we all go to my brother's family for Turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and vegetables followed by trifle or Christmas Pudding and brandy sauce and my favourite dark Christmas cake and my Dad's Scottish shortbread. That's our Canadian Christmas. Blessings to all and wishes that everyone receives their Visas in 2011.

What a wonderful post Pippin, you can almost feel the joy and spirit of holidays through your descriptions. Vancouver sounds like a beautiful place, and the year round moderate temperatures make it a very attractive location to land. However, when I looked into it, I noticed prices for homes and general living expenses are somewhat higher in Vancouver when compared to the Toronto region... and there may be fewer job opportunities for me there. Nevertheless, if my application is approved, I would definitely hope to visit there before my family decides where to settle.

As for our Holiday plans, they are not very elaborate. My family is somewhat scattered around the world and Christmas is usually spent with my wife and two little children. Last year after the kids went to sleep my wife and I brought out the presents and placed them under the tree and I went over to the cookies and milk my daughter had placed for Santa and made it look like he had been there and had some... Well, the next morning when my children came down my daughter shouts out, "Mom, look here! Santa made a mess! Bad Boy!..." This year we are taking them Christmas Caroling, don't have much of a voice and I'm not sure I know all the songs, but I intend to give it plenty of effort.

On Christmas Eve, I will pray for everyone's Holiday Season to be filled with happiness; may all our wishes come true and our dreams of a new life in a new land become a reality.

Most people who have read this thread have made up their mind about you Wayne, and I believe there are no negs for you among them... :) The numbers are meaningless.

Yes that's exactly why I said "And one of those did not get to eligibility review because the NOC cap was filled. So thus far we've had 1 rejected eligibility review" :)

The only 1 applicant who has been rejected after encashment (not counting Jimmy for whom the jury is still out!) is Iafaneh.

Wayne.
Dear Wayne,
Is there any rejection after being encashed? As far as I know if applicant does not fit the NOC, there is no encashment.
Thanks

Hi Wayne and Amro, thanks for adding me back to the spreadsheet. I am probably not very talkative on the forum, but I always check what's going on on here :)

there is one person called iafaneh who got the rejection after encashment

Hi - I have heard of people being rejected due to work experience and NOC duties not fitting both before a (Punjabi2121) and after encashment (iafaneh). So in my view a very quick check is done during the completeness check, if the duties are not even close then it fails the completeness check. If the duties look from a quick glance like they might be compatible then the application is cashed and forwarded to eligibility review for a more thorough check.

Just my guess but it looks to me how it works.

Hi that's ok sorry for deleting you in the first place :) The problem is that we want/need the spreadsheet to represent the true picture of what is going on at CIC as accurately as possible, so basically if someone has not been active for a while then we switch their name to red on the spreadsheet. If the time is coming when they should be hearing about eligibility review and they have still not responded then we delete them purely because we don't want inactive members skewing the figures.

It's only a 1 minute job to re-add someone if they want their details adding again.

Dear bro

Its not possible for CIO to knock the doors of employers to find out the details about the employees (applicants) .... :D ;D
This will be done by VO. Main reason is the time difference - Like when it is working time for Canada, it will be 'resting time' for Asian countries :o 8) :o .... and I am sure CIO don't differentiate applicants based on their country!!!! .......... so it becomes literally impossible to do the same ..... this also involves the culture, language and 'n' no. of such things in the applicant's working place.
Moreover CIO, who can't spend on Courier (for returned/ rejected applications .... documents being soooo important to applicants) is not going to spend on International Calls ??? :P ??? ......So chill out friend.....

Cheers, Anil

Neo 1983 and Doc Manu, if you can share with me..........
Please let me know
what document you had attached with you application package as proof of Date of Birth?
Your rejection is purely because of non availability of Date of birth certificate?

Please share with me......
I think I should write to CIO about the email recived from ND VO about the Proof of Birth providing maximum identification details about my application to avoid any rejections based on the no availability of birth certificate in the application pakage.

advise me..
Thanks

Dear Friends

I need your prayers. :'(

My application, which I resubmitted on Dec 1st, is declared missing. :'(

It was last scanned in Toronto on Dec 6th, and after that it has been reported as delayed due to bad weather on my tracker, whereas it was in fact reported as missing on the courier's internal website. A friend of mine from Vancouver has contacted TNT and its inter-Canadian partner,Purolator and has found out that they cannot locate it. My local TNT acknowledged today that the package is missing, but has said there is still hope it can be located somewhere. Just imagine the diaster. After a long long road dotted with ups and downs, I am at this sadly disappointing point now. I really don't know what to do except for praying. The worst will be with my IELTS , and what I should do with that regard.

Any suggestions friends?

Please help me out . Please pray for me to get some good news after weekend. I am soooo desperate and all frustrated.

We can see that PER-s are coming. Can someone of our friend whit PER, tell us if something has happened after received PER?

Viktoria

Dear friend bkcnbr

Please don't bother CIO for this........ I honestly don't understand your query. You have already sent your application. The 2 members whose applications were returned because of BC, was in the month of August. At that time CIO didn't have a clear guidance (from N/Delhi VO) about other documents being accepted as DoB certificate /proof. Now they are aware of this.
They have even published this in one of their instruction / information manual!!! ....... provided you have sent the alternate documents, with explanation. If you have done so... don't worry, it won't get rejected at least on this ground. Hope I could ease your tension / worry.... ;D 8) ;D .....
