Mark,

I never found any BFD on my GCMS. They had a due date however the due date on mine was a year from per. BTW does it seem like anything happened on your file? I got mine 1 month before the transfer and they where blank. The only information was that they had received my correspondence (FBI Certificates). I am wondering if NYVO did something on your file? Did you get in process?

Rod

Rod,

I'll have to look at my most recent one when I get home. (I should be receiving a fresh one in a few weeks.) The last one I have was from last week in February NYCVO and there was no activity except for updated notes on correspondence from me to them. When I compared it to the one I had while still at BVO, I noticed that the name David popped up in different sections. I assume that David is the name of the Officer that my file has been assigned to at NYCVO. Anything like that on yours?

Mark

I only applied once while my file was in Buffalo. So there was nothing interesting. Please share if you have any findings after your review

I will.

BTW - I'm currently reading a book that may be of interest to any other Americans. It's called "The American in Canada: Real-Life Tax and Financial Insights Into Moving to and Living in Canada". It's a very interesting read about dry but necessary financial choices for people in our position, ie - what to do with the 401k's, life insurance policies, wills, insurance, double taxation etc.

I'm not but I have been in the US for 9 years. It seems like an interesting book and would probably be helpful for me too. Thanks for the tip! Where in Canada are you planning to settle?

Kummy,

Is BFD called something else on the GCMS report? I can't seem to find BFD on the GCMS I got last week.

Mark

Hi Mew2k10:

Did your GCMS show work had been done on your application?
Edit: got my answer thanks and many thanks for the book recommendation :)

I believe there is no BFD on GCMS, that is what the company that got it for me told me...

Mark which state do you live in?

Thanks,
Cam

Alabama, what about you?

I'll look over my most recent GCMS later tonight and see if I missed anything interesting. Like I said previously, the GCMS I have is only a snapshot from late February. I'll be more interested to see what the next one says. It should be from late March. I'll have it within the next week.

Hello again Mew2k10:

I live in Virgina... with Alabama, your application could have gone to Detroit or NY... I assume... I'm just trying to figure out how they decide which application goes to which VO that is all... Thanks for helping me out :)

Hi Mark,

GCMS does not have BfD, instead they have "DUE DATE".

Thank you so much for the post, how do new immigrants actually find out about these programs and access them, by calling their local federal government office??

Thank you,
Cam

Hi Cam,

The first place to knock would be Service Canada and then the Provincial offices. I would recommend doing this homework before landing so that you know exactly where to/how to avail these facilities.

I would like to warn prospective new immigrants to double check the "SLEEP COUNTRY mattress" program before they avail it. There are some horrible stories. These mattresses are not new and have been used and sometimes were found to be infested with bugs. It seems, only a visual inspection is performed before they are given away to new immigrants.

JUST for Information:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/releases/2012/2012-04-17.asp

1. Canada stressing on YOUNG applicants; weeding out old population
2. Credential evaluation; but with no assurance of job.....they will still be doing survival jobs :(
3. Priortization amongst Priority NOC: No more queue ( as if they had ever maintained a queue policy)....list of Super Priority NOC will be processed first :(
