ask the bank notary official to sign and stamp the photocopies.
this should do. i am in minnesota and this is what i got done.
else you may also try the city government office as they also notarize
documents..but for a nominal fee.. which state are u in?

I am in Mississippi right now. The bank official says I can only notarize the signature not the photocopies.
As such the bank asked me to write and sign on every copy as
"I certify this is a true and accurate copy".
Will these documents be accepted by CIC.
I am worried.
Please reply.

so that means they are notarizing ur signature and not the copy..
i dont think this will do.. i got all my copies notarized from tcf bank and us bank.. (both are local to minnesota).. try the government office.. that would be ur best bet.. all the best

I went to the CIC website and this is what they are listed in the Instruction Guide. I think you had better find one of the persons mentioned in their list rather than taking a chance on this issue. You can make the photocopy and take it WITH the original. The authorized person will compare the two documents. If they are identical, they will stamp and sign for the copy's authenticity. Good Luck.

Certified copies or notarized documents
To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:

•“I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”
•the name of the original document
•the date of the certification
•his or her name
•his or her official position or title
•his or her signature


Who can certify copies?People authorized to certify copies include the following:

In Canada:

•a commissioner of oaths
•a notary public
•a justice of the peace
Outside Canada:

•a judge
•a magistrate
•a notary public
•an officer of a court of justice
•a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living

Hi,

For Buffalo office I didn't notorize any document, not sure if they require us to do that ??
So I did sent my complete application packet to CIO on October 20th. I remeber for New Delhi Visa Office they do ask for it...

Can someone shed some light on this ?

I don't think that is enough. That is notarization of the signature...

In USA, the bank and the any other official notary do notaries copies by putting their stamp, adding a text like "According with the original " and signing it.
I am sure you had bad luck to bump into some novice at bank. I suggest try another location, or another bank.
TCF and US Bank suggested earlier are in fact nationwide banks.
You could also find a notary at almost any currency exchange/western union office.

I got some of my US documents notarized by an accountant, who also had a notary license. You might try calling your accountant...

If you have more copies they can give you a discount.
