Application to sponsor Family Class with refund fee of $510

Hi. My husband is sponsoring me and my 2 children from the US. We submitted the application on April 26, 2024 online and paid Nearly $1500 (about $1400something).
We got an email they received the application but does not state if sponsorship is approved or not.

Yesterday my husband received an email stating "A refund in the amount of $510 has been initiated...."

I dont understand why. Does that mean the application has been rejected? We are panicking because the amount seems like the exact amount for a Permanent resident fee. The refund doesnt state anything else. We cant reach anyone and We dont know what to do. We havent receieved a denial nor approval of the sponsorship. How long does that usually take ? I checked the status of application via GC-key and no application was found. We are worried and at a lost. Please advise.

It is probably because you paid the old RPR fee of $510 instead of current one of $575; since the amounts didn't add up, they refunded the RPR part. You'll get asked to pay it sometime during the process. It does not mean they've refused anything else or rejected the app.

You should have paid $1205 plus $350 for the two children, i.e. over $1500 ($1555 by my calcs).
