Application Status by MP Office

Hello,
I went to my MP on Aug 30th and they gave me today's appointment.

I went there today and after giving my details to the MP office, I received a call back from them saying that my Application is under process, Eligibility, Criminality & Background are under process. If I don't hear anything in next 2 - 4 months, I should contact them again.

Has anyone got a clearer response from their MP's office on their file than the response above?

I am an Oct Applicant. Received my GCMS notes on Aug 15th. Last time the file was opened on July 10th.

I dropped by MP's office on Friday and they said they can only give me about as much info as they gave you. They cautioned me that GCMS notes may be a bit out of date, and that there's not a lot they can do to influence my application one way or another. They also told me that they depend on my government (which is currently in a state of complete disarray) to give more info about me than is turned up in the police certificate. Also, they told me that the strike is delaying such checks. The more messy your country of origin (Middle East for example), the longer it takes. In fact, the Canadian embassy in my country was in the midst of sporadic closures over the last couple of weeks due to safety concerns (on top of any walkouts).

My file was last opened at the end of May.

ehh to some extent. I'm waiting for my GCMS notes right now, and I'm almost certain they'll be identical to the ones I requested in June and July. It's pretty messed up lol. The bulk of your GCMS is the stuff they recorded in Sydney. The rest of it is a trickle of information, and it usually gets updated all at once on one date. Therefore, it's not a perfect snapshot of your file at CPP-O (that's what the MP office told me).

I've been considering just handing my case over to a lawyer and having them do the worrying/communicating with CIC for me. Have you considered that route?

Not really, I think CIC will not provide any different information to a lawyer. So, I don't want to spend money on paying to the lawyer at the penultimate stage of my application.
