Hi guys,
my file got updated at the end of last month. I did the test on Sep.16 and has been informed to expect the ceremony by the end of october. During the time of my PR i have traveled at least 50 times to the US and apparently that did not affect my application. Here is my timeline:

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on February 14, 2013.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on February 14, 2013. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on April 30, 2013.

We sent you a notice on August 27, 2013 to appear and write the citizenship test on September 16, 2013 at 1:00 PM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment.
That is unbelievably fast! What is your local office?

Good to hear that some people in this forum are getting test invitation. I guess the East side has a bigger chance to a faster process.

I have no update

Zaamar, you may be the next one to get the test letter as your process is fast too!

Any one has an update please share your experience so that we can help and support each other, thanks.

So, I called CIC today, and my file has been transferred from Sydney, NS, to my local office (Scarborough) on September 19th. That's probably why the "received" line on my e-cas disappeared on Saturday.

Up until yesterday, I had two lines on e-cas for my citizenship application - "received", and "in process". Today, the "received" line disappeared. I click on "in process", and there is no change there. I will call CIC on Monday to see if there are any updates on my file. Here is my timeline:

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on March 18, 2013.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on March 18, 2013. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on May 3, 2013.

Hi YYZguy416,
our "In Process" line disappeared about a month ago and there is no news about our file transfer. Unfortunately it's not always a sign of the file transfer to the local office. Though I wish it would be.

Why have they been waiting and reviewing your application for so long and then issued RQ? Unbelievable!

Hi Suin,

Have you checked with them recently? And the other thing is that sometimes agents don't check things properly. E.g, I asked the agent yesterday where my file was transferred to, and he said Mississauga. I said I was told before that my file would be transferred to Scarborough and I asked him to double check. He double checked and said that I was right, my file was transferred to Scarborough.

Hopefully, you see some progress on your file soon :)

Actually, they do background checks while the file is in Sydney. I was told this by 2-3 different agents. They said Sydney is doing immigration background check, e.g., they compare your citizenship application to the history of your file at CIC to make sure that the data provided is consistent.

Good afternoon, this is my timeline.

I sent my application on April 13th.

CIC returned it asking for missing documents on June (I don't remember the date).

I sent it back to CIC again.

I checked my application status and it says:

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on June 18, 2013.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on June 18, 2013. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on September 4, 2013.

I haven't received the ROA yet.

Yes I did, the agent told me that everything is good. I asked him regarding the ROA and he told me that it was sent on September 3rd, not in June 18.

Did you know that citizenship applicants who fail their first citizenship test will now have the opportunity to rewrite the test rather than wait for an appointment with a citizenship judge?

Please read below:

Ottawa, June 3, 2013 — Citizenship applicants who fail their first citizenship test will now have the opportunity to rewrite the test rather than wait for an appointment with a citizenship judge, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.

"“The Government of Canada remains committed to maintaining Canada’s tradition of high numbers of permanent residents taking up full citizenship, and this is one of many recent improvements that have been made to the citizenship process to ensure the timely welcoming of new citizens,” said Minister Kenney. “Since 2006, Canada has welcomed the highest sustained levels of immigration in Canadian history. Accordingly, the demand for citizenship has increased by 30 percent, with Canada averaging approximately 200,000 new citizens each year.”"
