Application returned?

Hey guys,

My husband and I submitted an application for spouse PR that was delivered on April 29th.

Today we found the application package returned in the mail (All papers returned, pictures, receipts, OWP application), some are stamped as "received on bla bla, CPC mississauga office).

I don't understand why? Nothing else provided, no explanation letter, NOTHING!! Never received an AOR or anything either.

What the hell?
My work permit expired in June and now I can't work

Try calling CIC.

Did you use the latest versions of all of the forms? CIC will sometimes update the forms and if you happened to have printed one earlier and submitted the old version - they will often return the application back to you unprocessed.

Did you check your email? may be there is a letter there.. strange though, without any explanation letter how come the just send back the package? You better call cic asap.

I think they mean the IMM1344 form is outdated?

Hilarious having to guess what CIC means from post its. so unprofessional.

Called CIC, which obviously cannot be any less helpful. They didn't even take any information, just kept saying something must be missing. The CIC agent went as far as saying just send the application back. OMG.

I am so disappointed.

Yes - this means you used an out-of-date form unfortunately.

You are now "out of status". Your next step is to apply for a "restoration of status". You can do this as long as you apply before 90 days are up after your expired visa.

Before my WP expired I applied for extension of status, I am on a temporary resident permit that expires in June 2016.

I am so demoralized I don't want to reapply at all.

I have an application under express entry which I'm sure will be rejected as well. I've been married to a canadian for 9.5 years, this is just not meant to happen.

Sorry. I was under the impression your visa expired June 2015. Not June 2016. You are not out of status then. You can reapply again with updated application forms.

Yes it is disappointing to waste 3 months due to an outdated form.

Don't let it get you down. Before my husband got approved we did medical 3 times, sent in and revoked (on purpose) an inland application, had several FBI checks expire due to procrastination, and before our final application we didn't even realise we forgot our damn official marriage certificate and had to order that. These things happen, it's a long, complicated learning process.

This almost could have happened to us, right before I was sending it in I looked on these boards and saw there was an update to a form I'd already filled out and packaged. I had to rip it all apart and put the new one in. The kicker? There was nothing noticeably different about the new form version. Don't worry, a few months is nothing in the scheme of things, you'll get through it!

I'm sorry that your application was returned, I can imagine how that must feel. Do you mind if I ask what date is at the bottom of the IMM 1344 you sent? Mine show 08/2014, which according to the CIC site is the latest version - did you use the same?

nope, ours was 11/2013

The kicker? There was nothing noticeably different about the new form version.

The latest update to the packet was in April to IMM0008. They removed the "visa office requested for processing" field because they just decide for you anyway. Why they can't just look past that and decide for you like they will when you resubmit is beyond me.

nope, ours was 11/2013

Check your other forms, IMM0008, IMM5409 (if applicable), and IMM5476 (if applicable) have all been updated since then.
