I had my application returned as its missing imm5476

I did not check this off the check list clearly says if applicable right beside it.

But since its sent back can i appoint myself as the representative..

Under section A .... do i list my self (i am the one sponsoring my hubby..

Under section c do i write not applicable since we never appointed any1 else and

Under declaration i sign 1st then my husband signs ?

Hi there I can understand how you felt when your application was returned My application was returned too but for a different reason. I hope you application was in better order than how they sent mine back - total mess!!!

To answer your question I am the sponsor and I used myself as the representative. I put my home address and email address on his IMM008 form ( I think that's IMM number) and underneath that section he but his mailing address

Then on his representative form he had all my information pertaining to me his representative. (Both signed it)

So I am the sponsor and rep, you can do the same, I never could understand why they would send back this form if you chose not to use a representative ??

Hurry and send your form back, you know how processing time goes

Good luck !!

if you are your own representative, do you even need to submit IMM 5476? As you point out, it says "if applicable". Just wondering since I'm working on the paperwork to sponsor my wife now and hadn't been planning to use this form!

we have the same question tho :) anyone please?

I have the same question as my application was returned for this very reason just today. They noted that because my IMM0088 requested mail and other correspondence go to an address (in Ontario) other than my residential address (in the USA), I would have to assign a representative using the 5476 form. I completed that form and assigned my spouse, who is a Sponsor Applicant (SA), as my representative.
MY QUESTION IS: On the SA checklist, they ask if a representative was used by the SA as well as the PR (me). While we did not use a representative, does he have to complete a 5476 as well? Surely not with him being my representative...?
Thanks for any input!

This is a common issue. If you list your residential address as in USA and mailing address as a different address in Canada CIC will need permission to send correspondence to somewhere other than the PA's place of residence.

A much simpler solution is to simply enter the Canadian address for both residential and mailing and send the application back without IMM5476.

There is no issue with stating your sponsors Canadian address as your residential address when you are "visiting" as you are still "residing" there.

So ImABule - you're suggesting to write N/A on the checklist and then not submit the representative form? I was suggested by someone else earlier today that it's best to write in the sponsor as the representative... but we live together at the same address, here in Canada, so I feel like that may be overdoing it?

If I was you I would just make sure both mailing and residential are the canadian address and send the app back, yes.

Thanks - i didn't send the app yet, I have a load of questions about forms first ;) I'd appreciate, if you have time, if you could maybe look up my post about 'a few questions regarding CL sponsorship outland application forms' :)

so basically, what did you do? we have the same mailing address so there is only one address, in Canada, that CIC will see as our mailing and residential address. Do we just write N/A on the checklist and NOT send the representative form at all, or do we send it but blank, just with N/A on it?

You don't need to send any form that isn't relevant.. others have said to write NA on the checklist.. I didn't bother doing that either..

As for all your questions can you copy paste them and pm me?

@scylla @Bs65 @canuck78
What if a person's application is in progress and he wants to add a representative (authorized consultant) in the middle of the application?
Should the applicant submit imm5476 or the consultant should submit it through webform?
