1What is the difference between "Application Received" Vs "In Process" status in ECAS?

Received means it has been... received...

In process means that a VO has started processing it...

How long would it take to see an "in process" status dude ?

It depends on when the application was submitted. Pre 2013 apps have had to wait SEVERAL months whereas POST 2013 apps have already started to see this status.

However, no one knows how long it will be like that or how much work is being done on the file. There is a chance they will stop processing and go back later... It's really just speculation atm.

I think you don't have to rely on the online status. It shows In process for FSW applicants once they receive the file which is not logic enough.

It's pretty reliable for CEC to date.

ECAS status has worked for some and not for others. I have seen people getting Medical Request white ECAS status still shows "Application Received". Although it is consistent when it comes to Medical Received. Almost all applicants get their ECAS status at some point in time to say "Medical Received" after medicals are completed.

Ok today I can see the status on my ECAS as "In Process"

This is the exact text in my ECAS

We received your application for permanent residence on February 21, 2013.

We started processing your application on April 10, 2013.

Seniors, please correct me if I'm wrong. This is my guess.

Application receive - they received your package, but it's just sitting there.. They are not working on it yet. You can still ask for a refund if you want to cancel the application.

In process - they started working on it already, no refund allowed if you decide to cancel now.

That does not seems to be true

My status was updated to "Application Received" after I received my AOR.

Based on your logic, it should have been "Application Received" before AOR and "In Process" after AOR.

"VO has started processing it" means my file is already transferred to a visa office?

Application received status: Once file is received at Visa office (CPP-OTTAWA for instance). This will happen after AOR because AOR is being sent by CIO-Sydney (post 2013 applicants).

In Process: once VO has opened your file at Visa office (same example CPP-O).

Impressive.

Would there be any correlation between the applicant profile (work exp, status in Canada etc) and "in process status" OR it's simply a lottery system where some applicants will get there application processed much faster than others. I see that 4-5 applicants from Feb 2013 have there application already "in process".
