Hi there!

Last year I was in an AIP session that took place in Mexico City, there, people from the IRCC told us the processing time (around 2 weeks) for a Work Permit (not linked with the AIP).
I'm searching all the requirements to apply because I already have a job offer in NS. I'm currently living in Colombia, and the processing time for this country is around 6 weeks.

The question is, can I apply from Mexico? or do I have to be living in the country where the application is made?

I don't have any problem if I have to travel to Mexico to do the bio metrics or another related task.

Thanks and excuse my ignorance in this immigration things.

So if not applying for PR through AIP then you have an approved LMIA with your employer. Or how are you eligible for a work permit if not nominated through AIP. LMIA proves no Canadian can do the job. Is it high wage? You can apply from Mexico but then cannot show ties to return to Columbia.

I'm eligible because of the positive LMIA for high-wage position. I'll also apply through AIP for PR but as they need to quickly fill the position I'm looking for temporary work permit while the PR is processing in the background (starting with the provincial process). I read that the AIP stream also has a referral letter for a temporary work permit but it depends on the endorsement by the province, and it takes at least 3 months. So, I'm just looking for the fastest way to go there to work, submitting a LMIA-based employer-specific WP from Mexico that has a processing time around 2 weeks.

Would take the 2 weeks with a grain of salt. It may be multiple months.

Since you have an approved LMIA from employer best to apply from Columbia. Shows ties to return. Wouldn’t plan on 2 week processing since not Mexican. How long did it take for employer to get LMIA approved?

You are lucky to have an employer who already filed and was approved for a LMIA. That takes a long time. Assume LMIA doesn’t have your name attached and employer has filed to add your name.

Really appreciate your help! Thanks
Good luck. So fortunate that employer filed for LMIA many months ago to prove no Canadian can do the job. In another thread you didn’t know if employer had an approved LMIA but I guess you confirmed that they do. This is not being designated through the province but federally.
