Hi,

I just got my application back. I forgot the second signature on the Additional Family Information. Can I send the whole thing off right away or do I have to get new police certificates? I'm so mad at myself that I overlooked that.

If your police certificate will be more than three months old when it reaches CIC, my bet is yes. However, if you don't want to hold up the application's resubmission, you can send it all back in with a note stating that a new police certificate has been ordered and will be sent when you receive it.

Don't kick yourself too hard. I used to be smart, before I moved with my husband and had to deal with CIC, haha! I've done at least two TREMENDOUSLY dumb things. First, we read all of the confusing stuff about Québec and ended up convinced we had to send only the sponsorship part of the app to start. (WRONG.) Then, I somehow completely missed the stuff about including a medical receipt and police certificate with my app. Luckily, they didn't reject my app for that one, and thanks to a decision I reached based off of educating myself on this forum, I got that stuff done and my app wasn't delayed at all. It's EASY to do dumb things when dealing with the PR app process.

It would be such a hassle. Because Its not only one that I need.
I mean the whole application is still signed with the old date so maybe technically its ok with the expiry date of the certificates. Its just the one form that was not signed.

It's up to you, and I'm no expert. I can only say what I would do. I would sign the unsigned form and send it all back with a note in front of the old police certificate that a new one had been requested. Then I'd wait for AOR, so I had a UCI, and order a new police certificate and send that in with my UCI, so they can match it up. That's just me, because my understanding is that the police certificate must be no older than three months from the date of receipt.

I always heard its not that good to send things later because it will delay the application anyway. its better to send all things together

CIC is so horribly inconsistent as to be unpredictable, but I sent my medical and police certificate in after submission and before any CIC request, and got AIP and DM in 10 months and one week.

hi. when our application was returned, CIC attached a letter expressly stating the missing document which is needed to be included in the application. i believe they also sent you a letter. if the letter asks for another police clearance then you should immediately secure one. however if the letter does not ask for it , then dont bother to furnish one.focus on what the letter asks.

They send me one letter. This letter names the missing document. I also have to include this letter when I send my stuff back.

When they wrote that letter the police certificates were still fine so they would not mention it I think. My police certificates expired all around 1-2 weeks ago. If they treat my application as a new one my certificates would be expired by now. But do they treat it as a complete new application???

I'm trying to call them right now. But too many people are calling and it wont connect me to an agent.

If the whole application was returned, it will not have been processed and the resubmission will probably be treated as a new application.

Agreed. If CIC had kept your application package and sent you a letter asking for whatever was missing - then your date would be locked in. But since your entire application was returned, when you re-submit it, it's like you'll be sending it for the very first time.

For the police certificate validity, the date that matters is the date the application is received by CIC (not the date you sign the forms). The visa officer might accept the police certificates even if they are a bit out of date - but he/she also might not - it's impossible to say and the CIC call centre won't be able to answer this question.

I would resubmit the application as soon as you can and then start working on getting new police certificates just in case CIC requests them.
