Hello,

I'm a naturalized Canadian citizen currently completing my MBA outside Canada. I was married a couple of yrs ago and I have a 4 month old child. We wish to travel this summer and require a passport for my child. I do know there is a simple procedure around this but the local consulate has given a few different versions of the process. Can anyone please help me out here? What form do I use to apply for this Passport and the Certificate of Citizenship.

Thank you!

No, Leon, toby can apply for baby's proof of citizenship (citizenship certificate) at the consulate in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong and once toby has done and got that he can get a temporary passport (valid for 3 years from date of issue) for the baby. See this link:

Hi Khanwali ,
I had a similar situation, I am naturalized Canadian and my son born in Nicaragua, I just applied for the proof of canadian citizenship on the Canadian consulated in Nicaragua, and I was told that in any moment that my son needed to travel, they could issue a emergency passport, but need to present the receipt for the application of my son application for the proof of citizenship (they told me that this reciept was like his temp citizenship card), but also need to present the tickets for the travel, pay $20.00 for the passport.
I hope that help.
