When you apply to an inland office for an immigrant visa, they request the Canadian Security Intelligence Service
for a background verification and a "security advice". The service then conducts a screening and replies to CIC with a report, based on the CSIS act. A visa officer then evaluates the report and determines whether you (and/or your dependents) meet the admissibility requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) to be eligible for a PR visa. For most people this is the last step. If an application is made to a visa office abroad, the process is similar, except Canada Border Services (CBSA) is also involved as a middle agency between CIC and CSIS.
That's awesome explanation cantaloupe! Just wondering if the CSIS would contact our home country ?

It is more valuable than the above answer.

Canada and a couple other countries (mainly the USA) have agreements for info sharing. Don't worry about such things, they won't start making phone calls to ask around about you lol

Hi All,

I just received the bloody PPR email. :p :p :p :p

My application took way more than normal. I am a Dec 2013 applicant and I did my medicals in late Aug 2014. I have been waiting 8 months after my medicals and I received the PPR email today. In summary, I was asked to submit any single document such as military proof card (I am Iranian), CV, list of publications, supervisor's info, POF, etc. My application was then sent to New York VO in Feb 2015, but I did not want to stress out the forum and I did not mention that. I called CIC after it was sent to NY VO and they told me it sent there because of the high volume of applications being processed in Ottawa. I met with my local MP a few times and his office inquired my application status. Each time, CIC just replied that security check is in progress.

However, I got it and I am very happy. Just one suggestion to the people who are waiting for PPR, do not plan anything in advance based on others' applications. Each case is a unique process. Just live your normal life and try to focus on something that you have control on. Keep yourself busy with something enjoyable and try not to think about it. And finally be patient and hopeful.

I wish everyone receives the good news soon.
Cheers,

Congratulations ;), I hope I hear from them soon, too.

Finally got the line "Medical results have been received", which is a second line.

Does this main medical exam has been cleared ?

thanks

Normally if there is any problem in your medical, your doctor will contact you. So, it should be OK. Having said that you have the option to order GCMS notes or give a call to CIC call center.

Not accurate. The line of "Medical results has been received" means only it has been received nothing else. Might be pass or not.

Few weeks ago, i was on this thread lamenting. Thank God with me, i finally got my PPR from CIC. It is a wonderful news.
My time line is as follows:

App Rced: Sept 29, 2014
CC Charged: Dec 13
PER: Jan 7 2015
MED & RPRF: March 30
Med Recvd by CIC: April 10
PPR: April 30.

For everyone waiting and anxious, relax all will be fine.
If you have made it to this stage, barring any major problem you should scale through.
Be positive.

How long does it take to return PPs. Hope it is not going to be another 1 month of waiting? With CIC, things are never quick. It is their rules.
