They asked me for a police certificate from China, my home country.

It's weird they didn't ask me a police check in Canada. I didn't attach it in the original application either. But I am going to send them both documents anyways. :)

They'll probably do the Canadian check by themselves. May I ask when was your initial PCC issued when you submitted your application?

No, I didn't include any police check in my original application. Yes, I only used TA/RA work experience. :)

lol, never mind then.

Thank you for your valuable suggestions Adamant! I will stop all pre-authorized payments from now. Would getting money from Parents back home in the form of gift and which will not be returned to them will affect this process. Ultimately if money is coming from parents, its obviously becomes my money as long as i am not taking loan from them. Sorry for the endless questions but i need your help. Already there have been lot of fluctuations resulting in balance going below $14000. We are prepared for negative side too and but apply next time in express entry i guess. We are also Adamant like you and you taught us how not to loose hopes.

Thanks,
PhD Applicant

Don't lose ur hope by seeting ur mind for a negative decision. Don't worry too much for the fluctuations of ur account balance, it is OK unless it went down substantially low, like 15000 to 3000 :). I think keeping around 14000 in the account consistently still very good. just make sure if any supplementary money comes from ur parents they should not be very large amount and should have a deceleration from ur parents that u don't need that back. Be positive and try ur best. Good luck my friend.

If I haven't received the PR card before travelling, is there away to get back without it?

Thanks

If u go to USA then CoPR is enough for u to come back to Canada, the officer who helped us during our landing she told me that. But if u go other than states lets say to ur home country (assuming u r not from states) then u have to contact to the visa office over there for a temporary visa or some document to get back to Canada. I suggest you to ask this to the CBSA during ur landing, they will explicitly tell u the procedure.

Hi everyone,
I am a Nov 28 applicant and just got my MR, RPRF and additional doc request in one email! Feeling grateful....:)
Congrats!!

If you're travelling to the States, you could return on a non-commercial carrier (e.g. your car or on foot; but not on a plane or bus) with your passport + CoPR.

If you're travelling elsewhere, or if you want to fly back, then you'll have to apply for a Travel Document (fee: $50) at the Canadian mission to the country you're visiting. Check the processing times for the consulate you're planning to consult to avoid disappointment as some of them are very slow.

background verifications are conducted by other agencies of the government: RCMP, CSIS, and CBSA. These agencies' timelines are not regulated by CIC and CIC doesn't have control over the speed of their processings.

Also note that if the screening of your file is taking longer than usual, it's not necessarily due to a complication in your background or anything of that nature. So don't worry. If you are really anxious, you can contact those outside agencies directly and ask if they are still working on your case. For instructions, google "canada security screening status".

Thanks for the explanation!
BTW, i defended my phd thesis last week and have a job offer from my superviso. Do you think i should update cic?

No, neither of those changes affect your situation now. The types of things you should tell them about are: birth/death, change in marital status, change of address.

Hi seniors,

How long does it usually take from MR received to passport request? I am planning a trip back to China in early August. Feeling insecure about my timeline....I am worried either my passport will be asked when I am in China, or my passport cannot come back when I am supposed to take the flight....

Luckily I haven't booked my ticket yet so the date is somewhat flexible....

It's been about two months recently. This isn't anything well predictable, but even if you're asked to send your passport to CPC-O when you're in China, you could either request an extension or if you're staying in China long enough, you could ask them to arrange for your visa to be issued in Beijing.

For me it took more than 3 month. Don't worry it will come soon.
