We all did our medical almost a month ago and we have not heard anything from CIC yet. However, you applied six months earlier than most of us. It seems CIC is not asking for passport from anybody nowadays. They will start asking for PPs soon or late, but nobody knows when that day comes.

Thanks for your reply! My medical was done in mid September, but they asked few other documents with Medical. They gave me 60 days. One of which took longer time. But still all of my documents arrived at CIC in the last day of the deadline, which was 29th October. On the same day, I received another email, mentioning- "We will grant an additional thirty (30) day extension in order to submit the documents.". Then I sent them an email (with tracking number) mentioning that my documents already arrived at CIC. I haven't got any reply from them after that.

Hi Guys, i applied under PhD stream on 3rd September and they have just returned my application package today stating that it is not complete. the reason is: " You did not provide us with a copy of the completed foreign education credential to accompany the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA Report) "- what does this mean?

I attached the ECA report that i got from WES. What else they are expecting? can anyone help please? do you think i can re send my package again? please help. thank you guys.

Did you send your transcripts and degree certificates along with your ECA?

No, I did not. i thought ECA has already validated, those are not required. is it the reason?

I'm sorry to hear that but Yes that's the reason...

Really? Are you guys sure about it? You mean a complete transcript and degree should be sent to CIC beside the WES document? You mean WES document is not enough?!

Please read the last para-

Proof of Education

To receive points for your education, you must provide proof that you have completed a Canadian secondary or
post-secondary educational program OR submit an original ECA report along with proof of the foreign educational
credential(s) for which you are claiming points.

Proof of your completed Canadian or foreign educational credential(s) can include copies of your:
• secondary or post-secondary education documents (certificates, diplomas or degrees), and
• transcripts for successfully completed secondary or post-secondary studies, if available.

It is mentioned in the document checklist (IMM5612E.pdf), section 13, you need both ECA report and proof of education (diploma/transcripts)-

A question for you guys.

For 5 points of adaptability, I need to prove that I completed two years of study in a post-secondary degree in an Canadian institution (that is at least two years in duration) with good academic standing. On the instruction guide, full-time study means at least 15 hours of instruction per week. How do I prove that (1) the program was of at least two years in duration, (2) I was in good academic standing, and (3) 15 hours of instruction? Is my transcript itself be sufficient? My transcripts showed that I have completed the program in four years. However, there is not much instruction hours during my study, as I did not take much courses.

Thank you!

I thought we only needed to send Copy of degree and ECA and NOT transcript?

That sounds good for folks. My main concern is for folks (PhD student) with only RA/TA experience just like many of us here.
The Express entry made it clear that job experience acquired concurrently with full time study is invalid. Correct me if I am wrong.

So let me just try once again to summarize how the PhD stream can exist after Express Entry (assuming you don't have nomination from a province or a job offer yet). The following are my interpretations of what has been posted on the CIC website (I'm not a legal expert, so take it as it is):

1. You need to satisfy ALL of the requirements for the PhD stream (including the minimum work requirements, language skills, educational credential, 67 points or above)
2. Once you satisfy ALL of the requirements of the PhD stream, you can then get onto the Express Entry pool for consideration, to be ranked against other candidates)
3. You will then be assigned points under the new CRS (comprehensive ranking system), where, WITHOUT a job offer or a nomination from a province, you can only max out at 600 (whereas with a job offer or a PNP, you can max out at 1200)
4. Now, out of those without job offers and without PNP, they will be ranked against each other, and CIC will only invite those with the highest points, irrespective of when they enter the pool (so it's no longer based on first-come-first-serve)
5. If you are among the top performers when it comes to the number of points, you will then be invited to apply for PR

So for those who can only qualify for PhD stream next year, do not lose hope yet. Until we know for sure whether the PhD stream will be closed, you may still have a chance. Obviously if you can qualify this year, you are advised to apply the soonest you can.

Well it is always better to over-send than to under-send, it is clearly mentioned on the check list in the second paragraph with AND in bold

You do not need to send transcripts. You however need to send copies of your certificates and diplomas. If however you have copies of your transcripts with you, then include them. More is always better. If you come from a country like Nigeria, it is almost impossible to have copies of your transcripts as universities there do not give individuals their transcripts. Send it back tomorrow if you can. Why wouldn't you?

Hi ojohn22, to my knowledge, your statement "job experience acquired concurrently with full time study is invalid" is only true for CEC class. But have you also found that sort of statement for the new PhD category (sub-category under FSW class)? Check links for express entry: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/express/express-entry.asp

I am yet to find that true for PhD stream but I might be wrong. If you find some condition like that mentioned in any CIC link or pdf, then post the link in this forum and it will clarify this issue for future applicants. I am also asking other forum members to do this who are doing research on Express Entry right now. Thanks.
