Hi all, I am expecting to receive a reference letter from my former employer in my home country and I am wondering if they need to mention the NOC code for the job I was doing there? In general, do you mention NOC codes in letters?

Also, does it make sense to submit a couple of reference letters for very different professions, or is it better to stick to those that are more or less related.

Finally, is it possible to apply for a professions such as "university teacher" (can't find the NOC code though) without a work experience in that position.

1. They don't need to mention NOC code (and probably they should not because it might look fishy). But in my case, I requested my employers and supervisors to closely follow the CIC templates when they describe duties. I also asked them to mention salary, hours, upgradation, important dates in the letters.

2. I don't see any problem if you submit two very different job experiences as long as they are both authentic. My first job was completely different from the research I am doing now as a PhD Candidate. I submitted both of them.

3. In the appendix of NOC2011 pdf, I found "teacher, vocational institute" (NOC 4021) and "university lecturer" (NOC 4011). You might want to ask your employer to rewrite the letter with any of these acceptable titles.

Hi all,

I have sent my PCC to CIC recently by regular post. Yesterday, I sent them an email to confirm if they have received my PCC. Here is the response I get back:

Dear Sir,

All requested documents have been received.
Currently your application is in queue for review by an officer.
No further action is required by you at this time.
Please be assured that you will be contacted immediately should further information be required or regarding the next steps in your file.
We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

Regards,

Just wanted to share with you guys.......

I would recommend making sure that your job letter includes both information in the lead statement and the job duties. Paraphase (but do NOT copy) the information on NOC 4011 website.

One question for you guys: if I include NOC 4012 (University research and teaching assistant) in my application, do I need to state something like [the applicant] "assist professors" to do research and teaching? Will CIC officers reject the letters if they do not see the words "assist professors", which is included in the lead statement? For those who successfully got your PR, can you advice?

Thank you!

In my RA letter, my supervisor mentioned "bluelotus assists me" in the lead statement and also a couple of more times in the duties description. I think it's better to do that to be on the safe side.

When was you application received at CIO ?

Thanks for sharing.
It seems that all of us are waiting for this officer.
I remember all May and June applicants were 19 people. Should not be more than that for April.
I wonder why no one is receiving passport request.
by the way, Did you land!!! because your profile shows that you did.

September 10th. If you check FSW2014 forum, today some applicants of Sep 10th were charged. It seems that they are proceeding all categories simultaneously. However, there are still some applicants from August and earlier September waiting for CC charged.

Mine was received on September 8. And still nothing :(

It seems that completeness check for September applicant has been finished and they are checking October applicants against completeness. The overall cap according to what CIC has told to one of the applicants is based on the completeness check. Right now the overall cap is 227 and my estimation is around 400 as of today (considering non-completeness checked applications). It means that if you have not applied yet, you have still chance to be in the cap.

One more important news: according to what I saw in FSW2014 forum, the last day of receiving applications by CIO is Friday December 19th. They will close from Monday December 22nd and will open on Monday January 5th.

Dont worry. As I told you there are still many applicants of earlier September not get charged. Btw, you have to check the balance of your credit card not the description. It takes some days to be appeared in descriptions.

Thanks Viva. Hope everyone gets charged soon. Yes I check the available credit :)
