Hello
I checked the excel sheet and I found that your condition is very similar to mine due to the additional document request. May I ask you what was the format of PhD information letter that you provided? did you write it or your supervisor or faculty issued that?
Thanks
Hi,
Actually I didn't use any special format. Just write the PhD. info myself and send it. Some of my friend did the same thing as well.

We received our passports back this morning and landed a few hours ago. The landing process was perfect. American and Canadian officers were both nice and everything went well. :D

Thanks to this helpful forum and good luck for all of you.

Congratulations for everyone who got us good news recently!!
After, I got the POF on May 8, 2013, I guess it is the time to prepare PCC from Canada. Is it better to get the finger print or just the criminal check?
Please note that The application reached CIO on Nov, 2012.

You do not have to do a fingerprint check unless you are required to do so by CIC. Refer to your CAIPS to see if criminality checks have been initiated and if so see what the status of RCMP screening is. If it says 'no reportable trace' that is definitely good. Getting a fingerprint check done before asking you to do so is not going to speed up the process.

Hi guys,
I got my medical exam request yesterday, I would like to find an emedical enabled clinic to do my tests, since it is faster (as I was told so). I live in Hamilton, ON. Anyone has the experience, and would like to recommend a clinic near GTA? Thanks a lot!

Ok Thank you so much for the answer.

I will check that when I get the CAIPS.

Just wanna share with you my landing experience. I landed on last Friday. It was very simple, drove US border, told them I am here as a part of my landing as Canadian immigrant. They asked me to go inside, then officer gave me two options (i) I can get visiting permit as I have US visa (ii) I can be rejected and returned to Canada. I asked him for the second option. After receiving the rejection letter, I drove back to Canadian border to re-enter Canada. Then I told to the Canadian officer my main purpose and handed over my passport. He gave me yellow receipt and asked me to visit their office, immigration section. I waited around 20 mins to get my turn. The officer was very nice in behave. She asked for the immigration documents only, mainly CPR and passports. She did not ask any further documents like bank statement or my job letter, though I was ready with those. However, she asked me to declare two points in the form and signature the form. After 10 min she was ready with my passport to give me back. At that time she asked me if I have any valid immigration document like study permit or work permit. I gave her both of my study permit and work permit and she kept those as I do not need those any more. All together it took one and half an hour.

My landing was very smooth and pleasant, no extra document was asked for except passport and CPR, but everybody should be ready with bank statement in any case if they want to see that.

Best of luck with rest of the applicants. It is an awesome forum, it helped me lots.

Thanks for sharing...but i didn't quite understand what you meant by they gave you two options...since you had a US visa why would they reject you?...and why would you need a visiting permit if you have a valid US visa?..do you mean a I94?

Hello there,

I 've got some Questions , if anyone know about applying under Federal Skilled Worker under PhD student program.
1.Does it mean you have to be in Canada studying PhD?
2.Does the applicant have to finish Phd degree before he can get Permanant Residence?
3.Work experience requirements- Can that be in any Occupation or must be from in a single NOC 0, A or B occupation.
4. If experience must be from in a single NOC 0, A or B occupation, why would someone apply under PhD program while he/she can apply under 1st catagory i.e. Eligible Occupations?
5. Can we abandon PhD, one becme PR?

Thanks !
