Hey Guys,
So, it has been a month since I first saw decision made in ECAS and still haven't heard from them, weird, eh?
I'm gonna try to use murphy's law on my favor, like Tyrusx did. I'm going to Mexico on Tuesday, hopefully I get passport request while I'm there.
Also, I requested CAIPS 10 days ago, so hopefully I get them while I'm in Mexico so I can understand what is going on.
I will keep you posted :)

Great, that gives me hope. Someone suggested that one of the reasons why my PPR is taking so long is because probably my background check takes a long time (besides TA/RA experience I submitted many years or work experience in a few different institutions and companies).
We'll see.

Another set of troubles at there end I suppose . Least of what we want.

Well I contacted them last week to inquire about the documents I sent them, first mail said your file number is incorrect, information cannot be found, second email said all is done on your end, an immigration officer will contact you, never said directly they updated the documents or not. Well I am assuming it. Don't know what goes on there.

Best of luck.
I also sent email to ask whether they receive my documents, and got a short reply that they received my documents.

Hi,

I have been reading the past posts, and was wondering what all the acronyms meant... (I am new to this website..)
PER, PCC, CAIPS, eCAS, ...

Anyway, I submitted mine before May 4th. I will put updates on my application if I get responses from CIC!

Yours should be coming really soon. I have a feeling that, instead of background check, it was your Mexican PCC that was pending (Decision Made usually means background check is completed, but I could still be wrong). Did you double check whether they have sent the PCC yet?

Anyway, congrats CuriousGuy :)

Good luck with your application. As for the acronyms, check out the following thread

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t41871.0.html;msg289552#msg289552

And I notice that the thread is missing PER. PER is positive eligibility determination of your application to be processed further. It is issued by the CIO once they acknowledge that you are eligible to apply for PR under the appropriate FSW stream (FSW1, FSW2, or FSW3).

Basically, PER tells you that you are eligible to apply for PR, but not necessarily for the PR status itself. Visa Office will determine your eligibility for the status, though depending on where you live, being eligible to apply for PR already entitles you to some benefits (for example, in Ontario, having PER email clears your eligibility for the provincial health coverage).

Hi,

I'm going to apply for the PR through the Phd stream. I'm wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions about the new ECA report......

The new selection criteria includes the 'foreign eduction credential with an ECA'. My situation is that I got my Bachelor degree in China. But I was as an exchange student (Full-time student) in my 3rd and 4th year at University of Alberta (Canada). Then I received my Master of science degree in Canada. Do I still need to do the ECA report for my Bachelor degree?

Thanks!

Hi ray27,

In my opinion, you don't have to. Check OP6C from the CIC website

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op06c-eng.pdf

In particular, refer to page 12 and page 13. Since your Master's degree (which is your highest education credential) is already from Canada, I don't think you need to get ECA for your foreign Bachelor's degree.

Though you never know, and if I was in your position, I would still assess your Bachelor's degree from China, just to be on the safe side.
